 EX NCC ACHIEVERS AWARDS 2022  PRESENTED




Awards are a way to encourage good behaviour and inculcate competitive spirit. The awards to Ex NCC achievers will surely motivate and encourage  the NCC cadets said Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area Rear Admiral Vikram Menon,VSM, at  Ex-NCC Achievers Awards 2022 ceremony at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji on Wednesday November 30, 2022.

The awards were to honor ex-NCC achievers for excelling in various fields and to motivate them and inculcate in them a sense of self-discipline, responsibility and patriotism.

The chief guest for the ceremony, Rear Admiral Menon, felicitated the ex-NCC achiever at the glittering function.

The recipients of the awards included ten Ex-NCC Achievers in different fields. Those selected for this year's awards were  Governor of Himachal Pradesh Shri Rajendra Arlekar, Shri Anant Joshi- (Defence), Dr. Firoz Kadar Badasab -Sr. Scientist, Shri Siddhart Mehta (Business), Shri Deepak Bandekar-GCS Officer, Dr. Manoj Hede-(Sports), Adv. Eshan Usapkar (Law ) ,Ms. Nehanda Taveres (Police) , Smt. Vidhya Kakodkar (Banking), Smt. Mily Rodrigues-(Teaching). The award of Hon Arlekar was received by his son Adv. Amog Arlekar. Two Special Awards were presented to Shri Vikrant Prabhudesai-(Entrepreneur) and  Shri Mayur Kalyankar- (Shooting). Covid warrior Awards were presented to Smt. Bhakti Devidas-Goa Police and Smt. Rupali Pande-Staff Nurse GMC.


Speaking at the awards function, Rear Admiral Menon said the Ex NCC cadets Association is doing a commendable job to motivate and inspire the young. When there is so much negativism around this association it is here to spread positive energy by honouring successful personalities which is praise worthy. When  you have an inspiration before you it re doubles it re doubles your effort. He said NCC helps in Nation Building and community service  and shape the Youth of the nation into dynamic and responsible citizens of the country.He appreciated the commitment of NCC cadets marching in Delhi     RDC in chilling winter.They have to wake up early in the morning to go out for a drill and they are ready well before the regular jawans.

Group Commander Col. K. Srinivas said that the formation of an Alumni Association at the National level is a commendable effort to bring together all those who have been associated with NCC. NCC alumni from across India should  enrich the NCC Alumni Association with their support and participation in the activities of the Association. The Government of India has made many efforts to make the NCC experience even more vibrant and meaningful.All ex-NCC cadets can register themselves on http://indiancc.nic.in and become members of the NCC Alumni Association.'


 He hoped that the  efforts within the NCC will contribute to this larger goal of nation building. He  complimented the Association  for the spectacular awards ceremony and  sincerely hope that the Ex Cadets will continue to enrich the legacy of NCC and contribute to the greater glory of the motherland.

President, State Ex-Cadets NCC Association, Shrl John Aguiar earlier in his welcome address said that the Ex cadets exhibit such qualities that will not only help them in achieving their goals, but also bring the glory of success to NCC and their families. Today, we have gathered here not just to celebrate the achievements of Ex- Cadets, but also to give due regard to our values and morals which these awardees exemplify, like discipline, compassion and zeal for learning.

 Project Manager Pradip Sawant briefed about the awards ceremony. Secretary Shri Sunil Shet read out the Annual report  while Smt. Smriti Kothare Proposed a vote of thanks.  Smt. Pallavi Salgaonkar compered and Sadika Buddaseth introduced the guests. Mrs Anupama Srinivas, Col. Srikant Nathan, Admin. Officer, 1 Goa Bn NCC, Col. B. S. Charak,Shri Pralhad Mayekar,Shri Shrikant Virginkar, Laxmi Parab, Bhavana Chodankar were also present on the occasion.

YOUTHS SHOULD BE EMPOWERED WITH LIFE SKILLS: COL. SRINIVAS




Group Commander of NCC Belgaum Group Col.K.Srinivas said that India is developing country with a young population having security challenges within and from outside. It is therefore important to empower the youth with not only employability skills but with life skills. NCC,   he said is in the business of empowerment of the youth to make them dynamic leaders of tomorrow.

Col. Srinivas was speaking as Chief Guest at The Navhind Times Ex Achievers awards function held at Sanskruti Bhavan on January 29, 2021.

 Speaking further Col. Srinivas said that the Military content of the NCC curriculum will be helpful to address the security issues of the nation. NCC, he said is the largest volunteer organisation in the country with a massive footprint. Each cadet needs to be seen as a catalyst /agent towards nation building.

The Group Commander emphasised that the National Integration is the bedrock of the NCC. Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Camps are being conducted towards this aim. National Projection is taken care of by Youth Exchange Programe. India's soft power gets projected by the participants of YEP. National Security aspects, he said can be addressed by NCC by a little reorientation in training when required. Expansion of NCC in Border and Coastal areas is a step towards the same.

Speaking about the Challenges in NCC, he said

 (a) Online training due to pandemic -  needs to be implemented now and

 (b) Motivation of Youth in present day materialistic world where they do not want to work hard.

The Commanding Officer of 1 Goa Battalion NCC, Col. Manoj Rathore  was also present on the occasion.

Vasantrao Krishnarao Mahadik for  outstanding performance as ANO and for social service, Shri Sunil Jagganath Shet for his outstanding performance in education.Shri Prakash T. Naik for outstanding performance in Cooperative and Banking Sector, Govibd S. Lotlikar,  DGM(Fire and Safety) for his  outstanding performance in Fire Safety Administration. Miss Laxmi J. Parab for  outstanding performance in the field of Sports. Shri Pravind  J. Gawas –Mamlatdar in Collectorate for his  outstanding performance as Civil Services  officer.Shri Nirmal  Ulhas Kulkarni, for his   outstanding performance in the field Herpetology/Nature photographer. Ms. Bhavana Vishnu Chodankar, Lady Police Head Constable for her  outstanding performance in the field of Policing, Ms.  Mavis Henriques  Co - Coordinator and clinical psychologist for Parkinsons Society Goa for her  commendable and outstanding service to community, Asis Acharya, for his outstanding performance in the field of Entertainemnt. Shri Emberson Da Silva for his  outstanding performance in the field of Accounts, Shri Prasad Xette Kankonkar for his contribution in Journalism and Mrs. Pallavi Vinay Salgaonkar for her  outstanding performance in the field of teaching were presented the awards and certificates at the hands of the Group Commander Col. Srinivasan. A essay competition was also held by the Association for NCC cadets. The prizes were presented on the occasion.

One minute silence was observed on the occasion as mark of respect to the departed soul of Prof. Edward D'Lima who was ANO in NCC.

Earlier President of the Association Shri Pramod Naik welcomed the Gathering. Project Coordinator Shri Pradeep Sawant explained the idea behind instituting such awards. Secretary Mrs. Pallavi Salgaonkar presented report of activities.Senior advisor Shri John Aguiar proposed vote of thanks. The programe was compered by Miss. Anjali Aguiar and Mrs. Smruti Kothare Mardolkar.

NCC is an organisation which helps a student to be self reliant, disciplined and punctual  said Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area Rear Admiral Philiphose George Pynumooti, NM at The Navhind Times Ex-NCC Achievers Awards 2018 at Black Box, Kala Academy, Panaji on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
The awards were to honor ex-NCC achievers for excelling in various fields and to motivate them and inculcate in them a sense of self-discipline, responsibility and patriotism.
The chief guest for the ceremony, Rear Admiral Philiphose George Pynumooti, felicitated the ex-NCC achievers shortlisted by the Association. 
The recipients of the awards included eleven Ex-NCC Achievers in different fields. Those selected for this years awards were  Mrs. Karuna Satardekar- Social work and education, Advocate Prachi Sawant Naik, Legal field (Government Advocate), Prof.  Gulab Borkar- teaching, Shri Mahesh Chandrakant Naik- literature- writer, Dr. Pramod Yadav- Medical, Shri Wilson D’Souza- Police Officer (Police services), Shri Nheran Acharya- Sports (Musical  Yoga), Shri Vidhyadhar Bhagat, Associate NCC Officer, Francisco Fernandes- Political field, Shri Deelip Azgaokar (Banker) and Shri Shrikant Krishna Virginkar, Assistant Director of Income Tax .
Speaking at the awards function, Rear Admiral Philiphose George Pynumooti emphasised on youth power and said young people are tomorrow’s future. He advised the cadets to enroll in armed forces which he said is a way of life. He rendered his full support and guidance for those willing to join the armed forces.
Nation building, he said  needs large number of enlightened youth. Ex NCC Cadets is a trained  manpower. One of the essential components of enlightened youth, namely the discipline, can be provided by NCC training.
Shri Shrikant Krishna Virginkar, Dr.  Gulab Borkar and Advocate Prachi Sawant Naik expressed their views on the occasion.

Mr Pramod G. Naik Sardesai has been elected as the President of State Ex-NCC Cadets Association (SENA) while Mrs Pallavi Salgaonkar has been elected as the Secretary  at a meeting held recently.

State Ex-Cadets NCC Association (SENA) along with The Navhind Times organised the Navhind Times Ex-NCC Achievers Awards 2017 at Black Box, Kala Academy, Panaji on September 23, 2017.
 These awards were to honour ex-NCC achievers for excelling in various fields and to motivate them and inculcate in them a sense of self-discipline, responsibility and patriotism.
The Chief Guest for the ceremony, Justice Prakash Naik, Jugde of Bombay High Court sitting at Mumbai felicitated the Ex NCC achievers short listed by the Association.  Guest of honour Commodore Sanjay De Çunha, VSM, and Special Guest Shri Arun Sinha, Editor of The Navhind Times felicitated the NCC cadets who have achieved laurels in NCC at National level. This award ceremony is first of its kind which felicitates ex-NCC cadets since 2007.
The recipients of the awards included Adv.  Sudin M. S. Usgaonkar-Legal, Dr.  Dattaraj M. Naik Parrikar (Dy. Director AH &VS),  Shri. Pervis B. Gomes, Dy. Director of Accounts, Smt. Smriti  Kothare Mardolkar (Journalist)), Shri Naresh Naik (Theatre Personality), Shri Devdatt Lotlikar, (Sr. Assistant, Zuari Agro Chemicals),Shri Durgadas Nadkarni (Teaching), Shri Salim Shaikh  (Police Officer), Lt. Dr. Kiran Popkar, Ms. Swarali Keshav Pansikar- Music,  Shri Deepak Betkikar (Range Forest Officer), Shri Sam Braganza ( P.E. Director, Govt. Collge, Quepem).

The recipients of the award were selected by a committee headed by Dr Shubir Sansguiri comprising of Major Venugopal Nair and John Aguiar.

          Chief Guest Justice Prakash Naik underscored the need o inculcate good values in students and feeling of patriotism as we all owe something to this country. He  urged the ex cadets  to work for the upliftment of the society. NCC is a organisation which helps a student to be self reliant, disciplined and punctual. He shared his own experiences about NCC and how it helped him to build his career.

Felicitating ex-NCC achievers








Felicitating ex-NCC achievers

Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar will felicitate the former NCC achievers, short listed by the state ex-cadets NCC Association (SENA) with The Navhind Times Ex NCC Achievers Awards 2016 at a special function which will be held on October 12, 2016  at 12 p.m. at Black Box, Kala Academy, Panaji.
Among the recipients who will be felicitated are deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza, chief consultant cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Goa Medical College, Shirish Borkar, businessman and hotelier, Gaurish Dhond. A senior 76-year-old ex-NCC cadet Ravindranath Kakode will be felicitated with Life Time Achievement Award for being in NCC for his interest in gardening and love for the environment.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will be the chief guest while deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza will be the guest of honour. The executive director of The Navhind Times, Pallavi Dempo will be the special guest. The awards have been instituted by The Navhind Times to honour ex-NCC achievers and to motivate them and instil in them a sense of discipline, responsibility and positive attitude in life.
Other achievers selected for the award include Gaurish Shankwalkar (civil services), Vikramaditya D’Lima (manager stock exchange), Atmaram Shetgaonkar (deputy conservator of forest), Vivek Costa Pereira (associate NCC officer/teacher), Rajendradatta Gulabchand Keny (Executive/Industry) and advocate Sadika Buddadhet (legal/social).
