NCC CADETS CAN SERVE AS RESERVOIR OF TRAINED HUMAN RESOURCE: GOVERNOR
Governor of Goa Shri Bharat Vir Wanchoo has
said that the young NCC Cadets along with the Ex-NCC cadets can serve as a
reservoir of disciplined, trained and experienced human resource, who can be
productively utilized in different fields of human activity. The student
community ably guided by the NCC can for instance help and educate the less
fortunate common masses who do not know how to read and write. Sanitation,
environment cleaning and even assistance innatural calamities like earthquakes
and floods are other areas of activity which can be taken up by the student
communityon voluntary basis.
The Governor was speaking at the
presentation of The Navhind Times Ex-NCC achievers awards-2012 at the Black box
of Kala Academy on August 23, 2012.
The Chief
Minister was also praised for his leadership qualities in absentia
for the award.
The Association this year honoured
personalities who were ex-NCC cadets for their distinguished and meritorious
services in different fields such as Commander Sharad Varik Gaonkar (Retd.)
product of IIT Kharagpur (Defence), Shri Bharat Naik Poet, Writer, Playwright
(Literature), Shri Vishnu Mahale (Sports), Shri Vishram Borkar, Superintendent
of Police (Police services), Adv. Sachin Dessai, Lawyer (Law) and Shri Pramod
Naik, Accounts Manager (Finance).
The award selection
committee was headed by Shri John Aguiar and comprised of Shri Vivek
Pissurlekar, Shri Pandurang Hegde and Shri D. Satish.
Speaking further The Governor
seized the opportunity to highlight and motivate youngsters of Goa to
take to NCC, as they already have a shining example and an inspiring figure in
front of them; our own respected Chief Mnister, a proud ex-NCC Cadet. He
conveyed his congratulations to the Chief Mnister and all other ex-NCC cadet
achievers who have been felicitated for their earnest and most outstanding
performances. He expressed confidence that the Ex-NCC cadets will continue to
motivate more and more young people to joing the NCC and transform themselves
into disciplined and responsible citizens of our great country.
The Governor said that Swami Vivekananda was an eloquent and
passionate proponent of the power of our youth. He believed that the young
people were the most potent agents of change in the country. Quoting Swamiji he
said:"Have you the courage to face any hurdles, however formidable? Have
you the determination to pursue your goal, even if those near and dear to you
oppose you? You can be free men only if you have confidence in yourselves. You
should develop a strong physique. You should shape your mind through study and
meditation. Only then will victory be yours."
He urged the ex NCC cadets and the serving cadets each one of
you to imbibe those inspiring words of wisdom and try to achieve excellence in
whatever you choose to do in life.
MLA and Chairperson of the Kala Academy Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh
said that life was meaningless unless you achieve something. Achieving
something in life requires identifying important life goals, creating a
plan of action and staying motivated as you work towards fulfill your
goals.
Executive Director of the Navhind Times Smt. Pallavi Dempo
said that she was proud to be associated with these awards.
Commader Sharad Varik Goankar (Retd.) speaking on behalf of the
award winners thanked the Association and the Navhind Times for choosing them
for the honour.
Project Manager Shri Pralhad Mayekar was also present.
President of the State Ex-Cadets NCC Association, Shri Pradip
Sawant in his welcome address highlighted the activities and the aim behind
instituting such awards. Project Manager Shri Pralhad Mayekar was also present.
Secretary of the Association Kum. Sadika Budhaset proposed a
vote of thanks. Adv. Prachi Pradip Sawant compered the function. Those
present on the occasion included Senior Vice President of the Association Shri
Manguerish Pai Raikar, Past President Adv. Avinash Bhosle, Shri D. Satish, Shri
Vivek Pissurlekar, Shri John Aguiar and others.

RICH TRIBUTES PAID TO KARGIL MARTYRS
Rich tributes were paid to the soldiers and the officers of Indian Army who laid down their lives in the Kargil war at a simple function organized by the State Ex Cadets NCC Association to observe Kargil “Vijay Diwas” at Azad Maidan in Panjim on July 26, 2012.
The cadets and people from all lighted candles and paid their respects to the brave jawans. Col. S. Ramanujam (Retd.) an Infantry Officer was present on the occasion. He recalled how the Armed Forces, undaunted by the adverse terrain and extreme weather conditions, rose to the occasion during ‘Operation Vijay’ to safeguard the honour and territorial integrity of the Nation.
President of the Association Shri Pradip Sawant, Vice President Shri Pramod Yadav, Organising Secretaries Shri Vijay Saxena and Shri Pralhad Mayekar, Shri John Aguiar and Member Shri Vivek Pissurlekar were present.
